Katie Whitehouse - Sports Massage Consultant
I originally trained in massage in 1990, abandoning a career in design and marketing after learning the value of touch when my father suffered a stroke that left him unable to speak and intolerant of verbal communication. Since then my passion has been to help bring touch into everyday life. I later trained in Aromatherapy and Reflexology and joined the APNT 9 years ago, after undertaking Mario Paul Cassar's brilliant training in Bodywork, Therapeutic Massage and Sports massage, which opened up a whole new world of massage that I had always suspected was there. I assisted Mario-Paul in some of his teaching for a while before setting up a series of CPD workshops - the main aim of these being to give confidence, improve palpatory skills and increase effectiveness using massage and bodywork. I live in Devon with my partner Martin and 2 children - Billie & Joe, have a busy home practice and now teach with Jon Freeman at the Exeter Natural Health Centre. My specialisms range from using massage and touch in pregnancy and labour (including involvement with many midwives and antenatal services at Torbay Hospital) to running sports injury clinics to support my Sports Massage teaching. As the APNT Sports Massage Consultant, I aim to make sure that the APNT Sports Massage qualification is recognised by all appropriate bodies, and to continue to drive standards upwards.
